(One time only) FREE SCREENING

To set up Hounslow Film Society I intend to give away one FREE SCREENING at my own expense as the organiser. I want everyone to see what a good Idea it will be having a Film Society in Hounslow.

You may know that nearest Mainstream Cinemas are located in Feltham, Kingston, Richmond and not forgetting  Brentford. So that's Cineworld (Feltham), Odeon (Kingston), Odeon (Richmond) and Watermans (Brentford).

Both Odeon Cinema's in Kingston and Richmond charge the most amount of money to watch a film. Adult ticket prices start from £9.70 - £10.85 which can all agree is a lot money. Film Societies can't not show most current films coming out of Hollywood but what they can offer you is your favourite films from a back catalogue, from a well known non-theatrical distributors archives. This is brought to you at a very low cost and at fixed rate Membership Fee. Membership fees are paid annually to a board of trustees that work out the running costs of the Film Society. What you get for your Membership at least 12 film screenings guarantee for 12 months of the year. Film society members will vote on which films they would like to see on the screen.

The FREE SCREENING will be great opportunity for you see exactly what we can offer you. Inside you will be able to buy Soft drinks, Pop corn and other refreshments. You then a chance to become a full member and depending the amount of people who join the Film Society it will continue to go on from strength to strength. All membership fees will be refunded if the amount of people who join up is too low. The Film Society can't function with out your support and interest. If you would also like to become a trustee responsible for how the the Film Society is run. Please contact me at h.filmsociety@hotmail.co.uk or on the day of the event.

The venue and date is still to be arranged and will update the blogger page when booked. Please do hesitate to ask any questions and you direct them all to my email address above.

Amateur Filmmaking Society

There are many professional film schools in the UK that offer workshops to people who can afford them. But there are so many in fact that can’t pay hundreds of pounds on themselves. This leaves a very big gap between what you want to do and what you can afford to do. This society is for people who are interested in both talking about films as well as making their own.

What I can offer you is a small scale cinema set-up inside of a hired hall rented out by the film society. The film society will operate as a closed members club with visitors welcome on special events. The cinema screenings will be no longer than 3 hours and food& soft drinks will be made available at additional charge. All profit made from membership fees and screenings will go towards to cost of running the film society. Any surplus profit will be put towards digital camcorder equipment and editing software that all the film society members will be able to use.

The amateur filmmaking society will be split up in to two teams (red alpha) and (blue beta). They will be able to use professional camcorder equipment whilst working inside of film society hall. They will practice acting to the camera (in front of a backdrops) and have the use of editing software (provided on laptops).

Food and drink from outside will not be allowed inside of the venue. The reason for this is that you can help the film society by buying soft drinks and pop corn. The money raised will go towards professional digital camcorder equipment.  Food and drink prices will be advertise both in the venue and on the website. To see what you are actually buying will we show the most affordable professional camcorder and the money target we need to reach. (Again food &drink prices will be kept as low as possible to attract attention and keep interest)

The venue
The venue will be at located in Hounslow Town Centre so that everyone attending the screening can access public transport links e.g. buses and trains.  Hounslow Film society screenings will be held in the evenings. To start with Hounslow Film society will meet once a month depending on venue.

Community Cinema equipment

This is an update to my blogger page. I have all community cinema equipment I need to put on film screenings.

HD PROJECTOR (widescreen format) with projector stand
90 INCH PORTABLE PROJECTOR SCREEN
300 watt AMPLIFIER with 5 channels for (surround sound speakers)
(Two) 100 watt PA SPEAKERS for a stereo sound system
Blue ray/up-scaling DVD player (high-definition picture and sound quality)

This means with my own projector screen and equipment I can set up the Film society at any venue big enough in Hounslow Town Centre.

Posters and application forms

I have just finished printing committee member application forms and I do intend to display posters in local colleges. I want to offer students chance to join because I know it's hard finding jobs and work experience. The two roles I'm still offering are Secretary and Treasurer. Whoever apply's needs to know that they should be over the age of 18 and studying in Hounslow. I'm looking for someone who's studying business or book keeping as you can see from the poster.

How can I become trustee and what are their responsibilities in running the film society?

The trustee

Trustee means a charity trustee. Charity trustees are the people who are responsible for the general control and management of the administration of the charity. Trustees will be chosen by a board of trustees called the management committee. The management committee is made up of different members of film society and their roles are called Chair, Treasurer and Secretary. Once those new members have been appointed to their new roles they will have to sign a legal document stating the film society main objectives, this document is called a governing document. So not long after that document has been signed by the first three members of the management committee, we will start looking at recruiting more people to become trustees. Charities are run together by the trustees and their paying members. Everything is put to a vote at annual meets. To apply to be trustee please by emailing the following address h.filmsociety@hotmail.com tell us what your name is, address and mobile phone number and we will get in contact. The positions we will be looking for are Membership secretary, booking officer, publicity officer, front-of-house manager and most importantly a projectionist who’s a technical supremo, responsible for ensuring the quality of the viewing experience.

What’s the best thing I can do to support Hounslow film society?

Word of mouth

Spread the word that there is going to be a brand new film society set up in centre Hounslow. Tell them that it will be a closed members club but guests will be made welcome at special event screenings and membership is renewed each year so that new members can join in on all the fun.
